In beta
DED. is in private beta, and accounts are invite-only for now. This guide is for our beta testers. Not in yet? Join the waitlist and we'll send you an invite when a spot opens.
Getting started
Can I sign up yet?
Not yet. DED. is in private beta and we're letting people in a few at a time. Join the waitlist and we'll email you an invite when it's your turn.
Got your invite? Setting up your account
Follow the link in your invite email, sign up with your email and a password, then verify your email. Can't find the verification email? Check your junk folder.
Your first few minutes
We'll ask a couple of quick questions about you so DED. can point you to the right place to start. There are no wrong answers, and you can change everything later.
How the guided questions work
Your plan is built one question at a time: what you're wearing, burial or cremation, the music, who speaks. Answer what you know and skip what you don't.
Everything saves as you go, so you can stop and come back whenever you like.
Do I have to finish it all at once?
No. Most people do it in bits. Your home screen shows what's done and what's left, so you can pick up where you left off.
Forgot your password?
Tap "Forgot password" on the sign-in page and we'll email you a link to set a new one.
Your plan
What's in a DED. plan?
Your funeral wishes (body, resting place, service, music, speakers, photos and rules for the day), your important documents and accounts, the loose ends only you know about, and letters for your people.
It also covers who and what relies on you: kids, pets and other dependants.
DED. is in beta, so some of this is still being built and may change.
Changing an answer
Go back to any section and update it. Changes save straight away, and your run sheet and program update with them.
Your run sheet and program
Once you've planned the day, DED. turns your answers into a running sheet (the order of the day, for whoever's organising) and a program (for the people attending).
Your organiser also gets a checklist of what needs doing.
Reviewing your plan
"Review your plan" shows everything you've decided in one place. It's worth reading through every so often, or after big life changes.
Writing letters and messages
Use Messages & Letters to write to the people you love, in your own words.
Adding documents and accounts
The DED. Vault holds your documents, accounts and loose ends, so your people know what exists and where to find it.
Your DED. team
What is a DED. team?
The people you trust to know about your plan and carry it out. A partner, a sibling, your best mate: whoever you'd want running the show.
Adding people
Add people to your team first. Inviting them is a separate step, so nobody hears from DED. until you're ready.
Inviting someone
When you're ready, send an invite from your team page. Until someone is invited, they can't see or help with your plan.
Sharing your plan
You can share your plan with one person or with your whole team at once.
Removing someone or taking back access
Changed your mind? You can take back someone's access or remove them from your team at any time.
What does my organiser get?
An organiser checklist, your running sheet and your program: everything they need to pull off the day the way you wanted it.
